M-channel Linear Phase Perfect Reconstruction Filter Bank with Integer Coeecients

This paper introduces a class of M-channel linear phase perfect reconstruction lter banks (LPPRFBs) with integer coeecients. The construction of these lter banks is based on a VLSI-friendly lattice structure which employs the minimum number of delay elements and robustly enforces both linear phase and perfect reconstruction properties. The lattice coeecients are parameterized as a series of lifting steps, providing fast, eecient, in-place computation of the subband coeecients. Image coding experiments show that these novel FBs are very competitive with current state-of-the-art transforms such as the 88 DCT and the wavelet transform with 9/7-tap biorthogonal oating-point wavelet.
